For the past 15 years plus I have shared my life with from one to over ten Leonbergers as housemates plus occasionally Leonberger litters. I breed for temperament, structure, health and longevity. This requires research into the history of the particular lines into which and from which I am breeding as well as assessment of each of my breeding dog’s faults and strengths as well as those of the dogs to whom I am breeding My aim is to produce Leonbergers who are loving, well adjusted family members comfortable on the couch or in the show ring.
My occasional litters are born and raised in a "puppy" room in the house. For the first week I am with them 24/7 and thereafter I am constantly in and out of the puppy room. The puppies meet the rest of my dogs when they are very young and gradually spend time with them as they grow. The older dogs teach them basic dog interaction. In addition the puppies meet other humans - young and old. So socialization occurs from an early age.
Prospective homes for puppies are very carefully screened since I am looking for the best home possible for each puppy and know that giving someone a puppy requires developing a long term relationship with the new owner(s). It is important that the new owners know I will always be available to advise and support them and that each of us feels comfortable talking with the other. My Leonberger puppies are in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts and other states on the Eastern seaboard as well as in Michigan, Texas, California, etc.
Please contact me if you are interested in sharing your life with a member of this wonderful breed as I have been privileged to do. Check our Litters page for information on future litters.
